Seeing a Disconnect

I chose family medicine because it offered the "wide lens" I was looking for. It allowed me to care for the whole person, considering their family, lifestyle, and environment.

But I soon felt a deep disconnect. Our conventional system is excellent at handling emergencies and managing diseases, but it often falls short when we ask questions such as: "Why am I always so tired?" or "How do I set myself up to feel strong for decades to come?". It felt like we were always one step behind, managing problems rather than building a true foundation of health.

This frustration sent me searching for a more complete toolkit—one that sees the body as an interconnected system and honors the fact that each person's path to health is unique. This led me to the study of lifestyle, integrative, and functional medicine.

My Foundation: Science and Practicality

This new approach had to be built on a foundation of solid science. I became the first physician from Taiwan to complete the Integrative Medicine Fellowship at the University of Arizona. I also earned my certification from the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFMCP) and completed a PhD in preventive medicine, focusing on how nutrition and lifestyle impact the way we age.

This blend of experience is central to my work. It allows me to be thorough and data-driven (the scientist) while also being practical and down-to-earth (the family doctor). My goal is always to turn high-quality science into simple, sustainable steps that fit real life.

My Story

Why do some people thrive, while others just get by?

I’ve always been fascinated by the gap between simply not being sick and feeling truly well.

This question was shaped by my own story. Growing up between cultures—as the descendant of immigrants and later an immigrant myself—I learned to be a keen observer. I saw the unique perspectives life offers from different cultures, but also the universal desire we all share: to live a life free from pain, and also to feel good, have more energy, and be well. I was the person always asking how and why this works. What really shapes our health? It’s this deep curiosity, and the connection to both the roles of the meticulous scientist and the compassionate healer-teacher, that pulled me into medicine.

Sharing the Knowledge

I truly believe this way of practicing medicine is the future, and it needs to be shared. I had the privilege of developing and leading an Integrative Medicine in Residency program back in Taiwan, giving the next generation of doctors these tools from the very beginning of their careers. I also continue to mentor physicians who are new to this field through the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. Teaching and mentoring keep me grounded and ensure these ideas continue to grow.

Our Partnership in Health

So, what does this look like for you? Our work is a partnership that starts with your story.

Together, we'll look for the root causes beneath your symptoms and build a sustainable plan for long-term wellness. Sometimes I'll wear my "scientist" hat, digging into lab data to find clues and complex drivers. Other times, I'm simply your guide, focused on meeting you where you are and helping you make meaningful changes that allow your body to heal and restore its balance.

I help people feel well—and stay well—by connecting science with lifestyle.

If you're looking for a partner to help you navigate that path with science-based, person-centered care, let's begin the conversation.
